Ladies Night Out With 'Snapette" Hosted by Chiara Ferragni

We had an amazing time tonight with the ladies of Snapette (the #1 fashion app) at the "Digital Fashion Fete" hosted by top blogger Chiara Ferragni of The Blonde Salad. The event took place at CURVE on Bond Street, an exclusive downtown luxury boutique with uptown style. My date for the evening was the amazing/talented Freida Rothman. She really is my idol and modern day superwoman who has a successful business, 4 children, strong work ethic and overall perfect balance in her  life. I look at her and realize I really can have it all one day, she is a walking example of a fashion power AND family woman. I also got to hang with my really great friend/blog mentor Naty Michele of A Love Affair With Fashion. She is one of the reasons I started my blog in the first place.  We also ran into the fab designer Jes Wade and handbag designer Mary Lai (pictures in post).

Tonight was all about positive vibes and support for the Snapette power team. I have watched their app grow into the top fashion app in the industry, and I am so proud of them! These talented young ladies are changing the digital game, and having a ton of fun along the way. Freida wanted to bring some surprises for the girls from her new collection, and as you can tell by their facial expressions, they loved the pieces! Shout out to the Snapette babes Angela, Amy, and Caitlin…also app co-founder Sarah ❤

Hats off to you ladies, amazing event!

I Have Great Genes (Addition Elle Video Submission)

Here it is guys! My Addition Elle "I Have Great Genes" video submission. I had to wear a basic pair of jeans and plain white T (which was way casual for me). I accessorized with jewelry by Freida Rothman and dalmatian print booties by Kenneth Cole.  The video was shot in Liberty State Park in Jersey City, NJ by good friend/videographer Michael Longo.

The point of this video is to show off my "great genes" and discuss why winning this competition would mean so much to me. I want to empower other women to feel great in their own skin, confidence is key. Hope you like it! I will let everyone know when it's time to vote.

Addition Elle Video Shoot

I had an amazing time today filming my Addition Elle video submission at Liberty State Park in New Jersey with my friend/videographer Michael Longo and my cousin Britney (aka today's stylist). It was a fabulous afternoon to be outside and enjoy the sunshine. It was a bit chilly by the water, but we powered through and hit all of the competition's requirements. I had to wear a basic pair of jeans and white T Shirt, which was actually extremely hard for me to be so casual haha! My sweetheart fit dark denim jeans and basic T are both from Old Navy. In between filming I snapped some pics and added on a leather/gold chain jacket from Forever 21, and layered on a Donna Karen fur vest. I paired the look with Dalmatian print pony hair booties by Kenneth Cole, jewelry by Frieda Rothman, and aviator style sunnies from Jimmy Swagg.

In the video I had to discuss why "I have good genes" and what winning this competition would mean to me. Obvi I owe my good genes to my momma! LOL Yes, I actually said that in the video. I also talked about embracing my curves and empowering others. Winning Addition Elle is for a greater cause than just myself, but for all the real women out there that need an extra boost believing in themselves and feeling comfortable in their own skin.

I am so excited to release this video on Tuesday, October 29th! I will need everyone's help to vote and send good vibes my way. Supporting each other is so important in an industry that needs a positive improvement. Thank you to everyone who's cheered me on the whole way (friends/family/mentors) and helped me overcome life's crazy obstacles. This would be a really big win for me, and just prove that hard work and a positive attitude really does pay off.

Feeling Sexy In Your Own Skin: LBD

I want to address some very deep thoughts and underlying feelings that have been arising throughout my life, especially with the launch of this blog. What does it mean to feel sexy in your own skin? What is the definition of sexy? What makes a woman beautiful?

The main question I often have to answer- "Is it hard being a plus size woman working in the fashion industry?" First off all, I would like to present some facts: the average woman in the United States is a size 14. This is not a bias statement, no particular opinion needed, just a true fact. Not many women look like the pages in a magazine, or models on a runway. The fashion industry has a very negative stereotype to women over a size 12. I am here as a true example to prove that wrong. I dislike the term "plus size" and would rather use the term "curvy". I embrace my curves and body, I have never been an extremely thin person.

A lot of my friends always ask me how are you so confident? I have insecurities just like everyone else, I am not perfect, but I love and embrace myself. For me, sexy is feeling comfortable in your own skin. Looking at yourself In the mirror and knowing what a good person you are, setting high goals and standards for yourself, and surrounding yourself with like minded people. That is truly sexy.

When it comes to physical appearance, I believe dressing for your figure is a major factor. Embrace your body, and highlight your best assets. I am half Puerto Rican, so naturally I have a pear shape. I've always been self conscious about my lower half, but I show off what I feel comfortable in. Honestly, shape wear (aka spandex) are a key undergarment to smooth out lines. Just an FYI almost everyone woman owns a pair of spandex whether they want to admit it or not (even Kim Kardashian).

This lace off the shoulders dress is from the Umgee USA "curve" line. It is body hugging, but shows off my shoulders and good assets. I feel extremely sexy in this dress, without showing too much skin. My pointed toe pony hair shoes are Enzo, and the perfect heel height. Just a little heel for dressy look, and very comfortable. My little circle black and gold shoulder bag is vintage, gifted to me by my aunt.  My crystal and gold chain draped earrings are by Identity Accessories. The bracelets and the rings are all by Freida Rothman.

Take a good look at yourself and find your inner sexy. Not for a guy, or your industry, but for you. Only you can make yourself feel truly sexy and confident, which is your best accessory. I am lucky enough to have met someone that tells me I am sexy everyday, he makes me feel comfortable in my skin and reassures my confidence. I truly wish every women can have that in their life.

LA Fashion Week @ SUR

Last night, October 20th 2013 was the official LA Fashion Week Accessory Showcase at SUR Lounge in West Hollywood, California. Jordana and I put this "accessory showcase" concept together to create a platform for emerging designers ready to take their collections to market. This is the only *accessory only* showcase that took place during fashion week. We have produced over 15 events around this country this year, and it has been such an amazing journey. We've met some of the most talented designers in the industry, and it is so wonderful to help them along the path to great success.

I am always scouting the latest and greatest accessory designers and upcoming brands, I could not be happier with the selection of hand picked talent we put together last night. All of these designers were chosen for a specific purpose, we see their vision and believe in their brand. I would not work with anyone that I wasn't completely passionate about, and I would literally wear every designer here. It is so hard to be an emerging designer in this industry with so much competition and sacrfrices. I am so proud of all of these brands, and I am looking forward to watching them grow and see them on shelves and displays in every major boutique/department store soon.

Here are some snaps of all the talented designers who showcased their collections last night. We transformed the garden of SUR into an accessory heaven (literally). Make sure to click on the links below and check out their work. It was such a fabulous night!

A very special thank you to SUR Lounge and their wonderful staff, it is always a pleasure. Also, thank you to our event sponsors: POPwater, FAIRCHIE, Born to Tailor, 2by2 Marketing, Majic Beauty and the Ramada Plaza Hotel. Shout out to DJ Exzeks for spinning sick beats all night.

Until next time xo
