Special appearance by #LolaTheLobster

Life is extremely busy for me right now. This blog is my creative outlet to let loose, and be myself in every form of existence. After working long hours all week in Manhattan, I NEED to find some peace and unwind on the weekends. My family and friends label me as a "work-a-holic", my mind is constantly thinking about work. When you love what you do, it feels like second nature. With that being said, I am learning to find a little thing call balance in my life.  Part of my weekend (besides some work) was retreating to the Jersey Shore for a little R&R with one of my besties, Daily Fashionista. We needed a little girl time and some cocktails on the porch if you know what I mean!

People have this negative stereotype of the Jersey Shore after that reality show. The shore really does have beautiful beaches, great restaurants, and fun nightlife. It is not all filled with "guidos", you just have to know that right areas to visit and places to stay. This was my very first time in Sea Girt, and I absolutely loved it! I had the opportunity to stay at The Beacon House property, hosted by their very accommodating owner. Not only was this high end bed and breakfast beautiful, it FELT LIKE HOME.  Besides being chic with a "Hampton's esq." vibe,  the location was phenomenal. One block waking distance from the beach, across the street from a wonderful restaurant The Parker House, and a pool to enjoy. What else can a girl ask for? I seriously want to move in for the Summer.

The outfits shown above are pieces I actually wore over the weekend. THIS IS REAL LIFE, not just a 10 minute pose for the camera. I am L I V I N G in this metrostyle swim dress all summer long. It is extremely flattering for my body shape, and I feel confident and sexy in this look. After some pool time a threw over this sheer striped Calvin Klein coverup just in time for some porch-side cocktails. I've really been into rum lately, my new fav is Botran Aged Rum which is made in Guatemala. It goes down smooth with a hint of Vanilla taste and a little orange. You can mix in a sparkling wine or some Saint Germain, but I like it straight up on the rocks ;)

It was such a wonderful weekend and I loved the Beacon House. You must consider this when booking your next summer adventure to the shore!

Eyelet & Evergreens

Location: Wolf Hollow Water Gap Country Club

Dress: Gap | Shoes: Franco Sarto | Jewelry: Kara Ross

It's officially Summer and it feels HOT outside. What's the best way to keep cool? Wear a white cotton dress, duh! I am LOVING Gap's fit & flare selection of these fun summer staple silhouettes. Pretty feminine eyelet details and 3/4 sleeves are the perfect combination for a BBQ, summer day outing, or even to the office. I paired the look with my infamously comfortable and chic Franco Sarto block heels (literally can run miles in them). For the city girl on the go they are a must. Block heels still have a great effect with any outfit, and are much more comfortable and practical then a stiletto.

Yes yes, saving the best for last. Take a good look at these gorgeous jewels by Kara Ross. I feel extremely honored to wear such spectacular pieces of art. This 18k "Cava Collection" cuff is made of Malachite with a Blue Topaz inset and Diamonds. This piece of jewelry is show stopping in every way possible. The statement necklace has details of a mosaic design with Blue Topaz, Amethyst, Peridot, Opal and Diamond details. I am also wearing a smooth "Hydra" ring with Diamonds, completely obsessed with this style. (modern take on the cocktail ring) Let's not forget the jaw-dropping triple drop earrings with Moonstone and Diamond pave.

Rooftop Rendezvous: STK

STK ROOFTOP, 26 Little West 12th Street NYC

Want to know what I've been up to? This blog is NOT just about cute outfits and style tips posing for a camera. I want to show you everything that's currently trending, and give you my upfront honest opinion. I've decided to take on a pretty ambitious feat this summer (also extremely fun & chic): visit and review every "trending" rooftop in New York City with a group of amazing/powerful gals. I call it my "Ladies Night Out", which has now crossed over into summertime "Rooftop Rendezvous". So far I visited the Kimberly, STK, and Mad 46 with a lot more on the way.

As you already know, I am quite picky, so there are some serious criteria that have to be met before I come to review the rooftop.

1. It has to be note-worthy (if you don't have social media I can't vibe with you)
2. It has to have ample outdoor space with a killer view of NYC
3. There has to be a chic "upscale" crowd that's on-brand for this blog
4. HAVE to have some cool music or special events

Now that I explained what's happening this summer on the NYC end- let's get down to business and chat STK. I really do love this rooftop because of the vibe and music. THEY ALWAYS HAVE AWESOME MUSIC. A lot of people say it's over-rated, I say it's not. I love the roof and the view from every angle. If you know what to order from the menu, then you will have a fab cocktail and sip while doing the shoulder lean to some remixed MJ all night long. We ALL KNOW that STK gets packed, it's one of the "coolest" places to be, so if you are planning on going with a large group make a ressy ahead of time. If you are going for happy hour then try to get there early to snag a table. The waiters are cute and very friendly, but like I's crowded so if you are on a time schedule then this is not the place to go. This is the place to be when you can spend at least 2-4 hours hanging out.

Now that they are open and taking reservations, what are you waiting for? Birthday, ladies night out, bachelorette party, after work drinks, client dinners... you name it! It has passed the Blazers & Bellinis check with a special stamp of approval in my book. I will always love this place.

If you decide to go check it out, shoot me a tweet and let me know how your experience went ;)

Shirt + Skirt: New York & Co. | Perforated Metallic Gold Flats: Tory Burch

Dress up starts at 5 and never gets old. I pretty much live by these words. Life is too short to wear boring clothes, when you dress in color, YOU LIVE IN COLOR. I like to be bright, it's not for everyone, but it's what makes me feel good. Forget all of the "rules" and mix up your colors, play with prints, and take some risks hunny!

As you have noticed throughout my last few posts, my style is changing and evolving. I have become a huge fan of of the full skirt and fit & flare style. It has a 50's feel, and I am finding that it feels good and looks good on my body. STYLE TIP: These skirts look good on just about anyone, and highlight the upper most point of your waist, giving an illusion of a slim figure. These gals from the 1950's definitely had something right! I paired this bright pink full skirt with a green pinstriped button down  and gold flats. The use of color and bold accessories bring the modern edge to my look. I am completely obsessed with Kara Ross' one-of-a-kind wood pieces, they are extremely light (even though they look heavy) and are literally pieces of art. I mixed it up with red ruby & gemstone earrings and of course my fav pink "Claire" handbag.

My best style advice is wear whatever makes you feel good. Forget the rules, forget what everyone thinks, and simply just "do you".  Finding flattering looks for my body type is always a challenge, and I am constantly trying new brands and options. I have to say New York & Co. really hits the mark, making stylish business casual collections for the NYC girl on the go. You have to check out their new arrivals and see what I'm talking about.

Did I inspire you to be bright this week?

UpLift Your Life #TotalBeauty

Location: UpLift Studios, 24 W 23rd St, New York NY

First of all, let me start by saying how amazing UpLift Studios is. I really love the fact that is this an ALL WOMEN'S gym, promoting women empowerment and fitness. The classes are extremely high pace, yet so motivational. UpLift gym instructors and trainers can give you the one-on-one personal attention in a comfortable "no judgement" zone type of environment. It's hard for me to feel comfortable in some of the larger NYC gyms because I feel like I am being watched or "judged" or getting hit on in a weird way. Going to the gym is really not my jam, I usually workout at home but this gym gave me a whole new perspective.

I had the opportunity to attend a killer (and you will see why I say "killer") event hosted by Total Beauty last week after work. I got to experience one of UpLift's "Sculpt Fusion" classes up close and personal. That was a KILLER total body workout, packed into an efficient 30 minutes. The instructor was so inspiring and motivational, she really kept the energy pumping throughout the class. Sculpt Fusion was a mix of yoga, core training, weights, and resistance work.

I also got to meet beauty and skin guru Dr Bowe, who was literally "glowing" without a stitch of makeup on. (Like is this real life?! Who looks that good while working out?) She was so humble and down to earth while giving fabulous advice and skin tips. Dr Bowe reiterated something we ALL know but sometimes choose not to forget. What we eat and our physical condition 100% effects our skin and breakouts. Stress is also a very big factor. Dr Bowe spoke about some great products to help with breakouts like ACZONE, which is a perscription gel topical treatment. This product is so fab because it doesn't contain benzoyl peroxide, which really drys out my skin.

After that intense workout I enjoyed some wine and snacks... all workouts should be directly followed by Chardonay and cheese! haha Overall, it was a great and UPLIFTING evening. My favorite part about blogging is getting to attend these events and meet some amazing people along the way.

Def going back to UpLift to get my workout on! Who's with me?
