#CosmoMag Hair How to!

Us short hair gals do not have a lot of options for styling bobs in the summer heat. Luckily, celebrity hair stylist Cash Lawless (yes he is a total bad-ass) and the Cosmopolitan Magazine beauty team gave me a few pointers on this "Hair How To".  It was SUCH a fun day shooting in the Hearst building, and we all had a blast.  Here are the steps below; it's actually really easy to try out!

1. Add body with root lifter. Spray a volumizer, like Michael O'Rourke Rock Your Hair Size Matters Big Volume Root Pump, over and under the first two inches of your root along your part. This will give your hair a nice grip and texture.

2. Blast your hair with a blow dryer. Using your hands, rough-dry your hair with a blow dryer.

3. French braid a section of hair above your ear to keep it hidden. Take a three-inch section, starting at your temples, and separate the rest of your hair by clipping it back. Make sure to leave a one-inch section of hair in front of the braid and leave it down to frame your face. Then, start French braiding from the above your ear back to the center of your head, and secure with a hair tie. Repeat on the other side. "If you want a shorter look, pull more hair into the braid from the nape of the neck as you go," Lawless says.

4. Clip the ends of the braids against the back of your head. Crisscross the remaining hair that's sticking out of the elastic bands and clip them down.

5. Let down the rest of your hair and curl it. Quickly wrap one-inch sections of hair around the barrel of a medium-size curling iron. Hold the iron vertically for a loose bend. Be sure to alternate directions of the wave (wrapping it over and around the barrel, and then under and around), and leave the ends out so they remain straight, giving the style an edgier look.

6. Add texture with pomade. Take a dime-size amount of pomade and warm it in your hands, and then gently drag the product through the ends only to separate some strands of hair. Try Garnier Fructis Power Putty Surfer Hair.

Finally, spritz your hair with hairspray and you're done! Now go Instagram the hell out of your super chic, short hairstyle, and tweet @Cosmopolitan with the hashtag #CosmoSexyHair.

What do you think of the style? Special thanks to Cosmo’s FAB beauty editor Carly Cardellino, celebrity makeup artist Lauren Cosenza, and photographer Kathleen Kamphausen. See the full article here.
